Vehicle Catalytic Converter "Black Gold" Theft

Vehicle Catalytic Converter "Black Gold" Theft

Unfortunately, most cars/vehicles don't have catalytic converters. 😞

They've either been stollen (mostly) in parking spots/garages or knowingly and willingly removed (rare) to enhance performance among other reasons.

It's located along the vehicle's exhaust pipe system. You'll need to physically check if your car still has the converter.

The catalytic converter helps to reduce airborne pollutants that could harm people as well as the environment, turning 90% of harmful emissions into less harmful gasses.

A "well-maintained" catalytic converter improves the efficiency of your car, directly affecting its overall health and performance.

 Functions of Catalytic Converters.

1. Reduction of nitrogen oxides into elemental nitrogen and oxygen: NOx→Nx+Ox.

2. Oxidation of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide: CO+O2→CO2.

3. Oxidation of hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water: CxH4x+2xO2→xCO2+2xH2O.

You can technically drive without a catalytic converter, but doing so would be ILLEGAL.

If your converter has been stolen, you'll probably notice because your engine will be much louder while idling.

Driving without a catalytic converter WON'T COMPROMISE your SAFETY, but you will be at RISK of being FINED.

Why Remove Catalytic Converters

The catalytic converter forces the air and gases emitted by the engine to pass through tiny ducts.

By removing it, the engine breathes more and develops more power.

The sound is also enhanced and fuel consumption can be reduced by up to 10%, depending on the car model.

 Catalytic Converter Theft

They are often targeted by thieves as they contain valuable metals and can be removed in less than a minute.

Catalytic converter theft most frequently occurs in car parks, but they can happen anywhere.

Precious Metal Value: - Catalytic converters contain valuable metals, including platinum, palladium, and rhodium.

The black market demand for these precious metals has surged, leading thieves to target catalytic converters as a lucrative source of quick income.

 *To prevent Catalytic Converter theft;*

1. Install a shield for your vehicle

2. Always park in safe spots

Road Safety Tips 👍. Number 12 Will shock you.

. Don't use your mobile phone whilst driving

- Making or receiving a call, even using a 'hands free' phone, can distract your attention from driving and could lead to an accident.

2. Belt up in the back

- In a collision, an unbelted rear passenger can kill or seriously injure the driver or a front seat passenger.

3. Don't drink and drive

- Any alcohol, even a small amount, can impair your driving so be a safe driver; don't drink and drive.

4. Slow down

- At 60Km/h you are twice as likely to kill a pedestrian as at 50Km/h.

5. Children

- Children often act impulsively, take extra care outside schools, near buses and ice cream vans when they might be around.

6. Take a break

- Tiredness is thought to be a major factor in more than 10% of road accidents. Plan to stop for at least a 15 minute break every 2 hours on a long journey.

7. Walk safely

- When crossing a road always use a pedestrian crossing if there is one nearby. Help others to see you by wearing fluorescent or reflective clothing in poor light conditions.

8. Anticipate

- Observe and anticipate other road users and use your mirrors regularly.

9. Use car seats

- Child and baby seats should be fitted properly and checked every trip.

10. Keep your distance

- Always keep a two second gap between you and the car in front.

11. Keep Left Unless Overtaking

- Leave the lanes to your right for vehicles that are faster than yours.

12. Obey the Continuous Yellow Line

- Do not overtake on a Continuous Yellow line. It is dangerous to do so. Treat the line as a "wall" that separates the living from the dead.

13. Use your side-view mirrors (or side mirrors, or wing mirrors)

- While the rearview mirror allows you to see what is behind you, the side mirrors allow you to see not only what is on your side, but also what is in your blind spots.

14. Do not distract the driver.

- Self explanatory

15. Add More...

Queen Elizabeth II Dies aged 96 at Balmoral, 8th September 2022.

Queen Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; 21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022), the UK's longest-serving monarch, has died at Balmoral aged 96 on 8th September 2022, after reigning for 70 years.

Elizabeth became Queen aged 26, while in Kenya, during her stay at Treetops – one of the country's first game lodges – the night before her father the King's unexpected death on 6 February 1952. She was in the company of her 25-year-old young husband, Prince Philip.

Treetops Hotel was a hotel in Aberdare National Park in Kenya near the township of Nyeri, 1,966 m (6,450 ft) above sea level on the Aberdare Range and in sight of Mount Kenya. Despite its royal connections and reputation as Kenya's oldest safari lodge, Treetops has been forced to close alongside two other historic hotels in the park due to the lingering effects of the pandemic on the country's tourism sector.

She was Queen of the United Kingdom and of 14 other sovereign countries from 6 February 1952 until her death. Her reign of 70 years and seven months is the longest of any British monarch.

Social Media etiquette - Profile Photo.

Once upon a time, social media was regarded as a bad thing. People who were "on Facebook" were taken as jokers and perceived not to be serious in /with life.

Fast forward, things have changed. Covid-19 taught us to work from home, use online means to do business including daily work.

We started working online, meeting online, buying things online and even going to church online. Some of these won't go away soon as they greatly improved on convenience and saving of resources including time management.

In online transactions, people work and relate based on trust due to the absence of physical interaction. This necessitates the need to have an open and trusted "personality" which is mostly gauged based on the information one shares out there. These include
1. Your name
2. Your physical and postal address
3. Your profile photo
4. Etc

People have different perception and feeling towards sharing their photos online. Here's my opinion though...

Not everyone you talk to online, in Whatsapp groups, Facebook, etc knows you personally, have your contact or know your alias/aka names.

There comes a time where you need someone urgently and you don't have their contacts because of various reasons. Maybe you lost their contact, changed your phone or have never saved their contacts before. They will use your photo and/or name to look for you in a Whatsapp group for example.

We can't be able to cram people's contacts off head but can remember their names and how they look.

For either fear of showing their faces online, most people either leave it blanc, put a car or house, or family members.
Profile photos are meant to make people identify you fast for proper interaction. There's a reason a silhouette has the "Face" of a person (Man/woman) because it's meant to be a face.

Thanks for reading through as you purpose to upload a real photo of yourself for ease of interaction.

My views though....

WhatsApp etiquette - Politics and Religion 2

Politics and religion are two very controversial, divisive and emotional subjects. Every person has their own view on different subjects and rarely come to a common understanding.

To minimise confusion, learn to keep off (or at least minimize) these two topics in both professional and large groups (i.e WhatsApp) where people share different opinions towards the two.

If you must address them, do so in such a way that you don't necessarily belittle your colleagues/other members who share a different opinion from yours, as this will lead to heated exchanges and worse still, members will withdraw from the group because of shifting from the purpose the group was created for.

As much as we work and live in political environments, not everyone one of us is interested in politics itself. On religion, some people prefer not to talk so much/anything about it.

It's just a matter of being sensitive to others.

We are in many political and religious forums, let's utilize those to air our views out to people who will appreciate, reciprocate and won't get offended.

Yours truly,

Jeremiah Mauti

Wash Wash (Money Laundering) explained

"Wash Wash" (Money Laundering) explained in layman's terms.

1. Cleansing "dirty" money.

2. Putting "dirty" money into the "clean" system

3. Making proceeds from "illegal" trade to become "legal"...

Money laundering is the process of making illegally-gained proceeds (i.e., "dirty money") appear legal (i.e., "clean"). Typically, it involves three steps: placement, layering, and integration. ... Finally, it is integrated into the financial system through additional transactions until the "dirty money" appears "clean".

Eg... You stole KES 20B (in cash) from another country. You (an events company in Kenya) purport to hold an event the most expensive hotel in Nairobi, host an international "prominent" artiste, make "entrance fee" to be ambiguous i.e charge Ksh 10k booking rates, Ksh 100k VIP rate... and Ksh 50k at the entrance.

Then..

Make as many tickets as possible, give out through radio shows while marketing the event... And of course, give many "complementary tickets" to University of Nairobi students 🤣🤣... After the event, go bank 10million... If they ask you source of your money, you show them the counterfoils of the tickets that People "purchased" to attend the "expensive event"...

Repeat the process with many other musicians and events untill all Your 20B is safe in your accounts...

I hope you understand better. 💯

Jeremiah Mauti

WhatsApp Etiquette - Politics and Religion 1

My Take....

1. Politics and Religion are EMOTIVE

2. Politics and Religion are DIVISIVE

Not everyone in a group will share same views on the above topics...

Each group has people from different religious beliefs and backgrounds, not necessarily same as yours. Keep in mind when sending in your Bible verses that not everyone is a Christian...

Each group has people with diverse political opinions, not necessarily same as yours. Keep in mind as you send that "Baba" post that not everyone is amicus Baba...

In official and professional groups, the above subjects should be addressed with caution and better still avoided in totality.

It's important to respect group rules in order not to offend other participants who may not necessarily "Leave" the group, being official or professional (important) and may not be brave enough to ask you to stop posting political and religious posts.

It's okay to discuss political and religious topics in groups specially opened/created and meant for that purpose.

Polite reminder, not everyone likes these many "forwarded" posts. Regulate number of forwarded messages as the team members could have received the same thing from another group. Many forwarded messages could be scam which innocent members may end up clicking on links and be scammed.

Jeremiah Mauti
